Arrive at Sirambiadiya the village of Afro-Sri Lankan community (Kaffirs) located on Puttlam-Anuradhapura main road on your own. (We can arrange the transfers from any location at a supplement.)
The Sri Lankan Kaffirs are an ethnic group in Sri Lanka who are partially descended from 16th-century Portuguese traders and African slaves, brought by them to work as labourers and soldiers to fight against the Sinhala Kings! Laterly the British brought another set from Mozambique & India in 1800s as slaves. Some of them have returned to their homes after the colonial period and some of them settled in Sri Lanka married to local women. However, you’ll find that things are a little different today, when you spend a couple of hours visiting the old and rural village of Sirambaidiya in Puttalam, and get to know this extraordinary community. Creole was their language spoken during the colonial times, nowadays they speak a mix of Sinhalalese & Tamil.
Listen to the legends of the elders, and experience their cultural heritage through music and dance called Kaffringna, Manja and Baila!
